Displaying visually attractive multilingual text on the Web has been a challenge.

Using the new HTML 5 <canvas> tag, SVG font, SVG path, and Javascript, it's possible to paint text such as the following.

Notes

Although the demos should work with IE6 and IE7, they work best with Google Chrome and Firefox 3.
Firefox 3 allows you to right-click and save the canvas as a PNG image file.
These demos have been tested and are compatible with Firefox 2/3, Internet Explorer 6/7, Opera 9.6, Safari 3.1, and Chrome.

• Dieter Steffmann's fonts are located at Moorstation and are in the Public Domain.
• Hebrew fonts by Meir Sadan are located at http://www.oketz.com/fonts/all.html and are licensed under the Creative Commons.
  Meir Sadan has given kind permission to create font derivatives from TTF to SVG and JSON for this application.
• The Greek fonts are modifications from typefaces maintained by the Greek Font Society. (SIL OFL FAQ).
• All colors were selected from ColourLovers.com.
• Font conversions from TrueType to SVG were possible using FontForge.
• We use Google's Explorer Canvas, which is an implementation of HTML 5 <canvas> for IE6/IE7.
• JQuery provides Ajax functionality to these demos.
• The look and feel of the site is from an older version at Mootools.
